Niagara Falls, NY

One day we spent on the Canadian side and today we explored the US side of the Niagara Falls. Made a lot of pictures but am not sure if I can send them from here, our connection is poor. If it doesn't work today, I'll send them tomorrow.
It was worth the trip and the sites were fascinating. I enjoyed the power plant the most. Since I have seen the Victoria Falls it is hard to find other falls as impressive, but it was still very very nice.
The power plant was started in 1931 by then Gov. Franklin Roosevelt for 737 Million $'s. Sounds like a lot but it really isn't and has been one of the best improvements ever, not just for NY but also for Vermont. These waters here have been put to good use in the US and in Canada.

Tomorrow we make another stop in the State of NY before reaching Don's parents in Vermont.

By the way, we met 10 people from Hamburg at the camping site! Germans are everywhere and it was fun meeting with them.



Einen Tag verbrachten wir auf der Kanadischen Seite und heute haben wir die US Seite erobert. Wir haben viele Fotos, die eventuell erst morgen durchkommen werden, da unsere Verbindung hier sehr schlecht ist.
Niagara Falls waren die Reise wert. Mir gefiel vor allem die Energie Plantage, die in 1931 durch damals Gov. Franklin Roosevelt fuer 737 Millionen $ in Angriff genommen wurde. Hoert sich teuer an, ist es aber nicht, wenn man bedenkt wieviel Energie und Geld dieses Werk ueber die Jahre nicht nur fuer die Leute in NY sondern auch in Vermont gespart hat. War faszinierend! Diese Stroemungen und das viele Wasser werden wahrhaftig gut ausgenuetzt in den US und in Kanada.

Morgen geht es weiter, mit einem Tag Pause im Staate NY, bevor wir bei Don's Eltern in Vermont eintrudeln werden.

Uebrigens haben wir 10 Leute von Hamburg auf dem Campingplatz getroffen. Deutsche sind ueberall und es hat Spass gemacht, diese lieben Leute kennenzulernen.
